Some of these great opportunities can be done from the comfort of your dorm room or apartment, and most have the opportunity to work directly at the employers office. Are you new to networking? Many students and recent graduates are intimidated by the idea of networking, and can become overwhelmed when they walk into a big event full of potential employers. It might seem tempting to grab a group of friends and walk around together, but it is a better idea to go solo or go with just one friend or peer. Going solo can help you gain the courage to talk with people you don't know and can show employers that you are independent and can be taken seriously. Going with just one friend, rather than a group, can help you escape that initial awkwardness of not knowing anyone and it is easy to break off and explore your own interests and then regroup together.

A fun and easy event to attend and try your hand at networking is the Vermont Tech Jam  Bring a friend to this one if you want, it is right on Church Street in Burlington and is a great way to spend this Friday or Saturday. Tech companies from all over Vermont will be there exhibiting, and it's a chance to see what is going on and meet different companies..all for free!
